The predecessor of Jilin University Engineering Training Center was an internship factory, founded in 1956. From a production factory with only a dozen people at that time, it has developed into a provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center today, carrying the memories of several generations and engraving the footsteps of several generations of people's progress.

Engineering Training Center
The Engineering Training Center was established on September 10, 2010. On the basis of appropriately streamlining the traditional metalworking internship content of the original internship factory, comprehensive and innovative training programs were added, highlighting the combination of mechanical, electrical, computer, numerical control technology, intelligent manufacturing, and robotics, and the characteristics of the common development of traditional and advanced manufacturing technologies. It completed the transformation from traditional metalworking internship to modern engineering training, from a single engineering discipline to a comprehensive discipline, and from cultivating skills to cultivating comprehensive qualities. In 2014, it was designated as the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center for College Students at Jilin University. In 2015, it was designated as the Maker Base for College Students at Jilin University. In 2017, it was awarded the title of Excellent Teaching Team in Jilin Province. In the same year, it was designated as the "Double First Class and Double Innovation Base" in Jilin Province. On January 18, 2018, the Engineering Training Center was placed under the management of the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering.
After 66 years of ups and downs, the Engineering Training Center has always adhered to the teaching theme of "student-centered", continuously optimized educational and teaching conditions, promoted teaching method reform, strengthened teacher team construction, deeply integrated theoretical teaching, mainly focused on undergraduate practical teaching, supplemented by interdisciplinary integration, and fully utilized the advantages of Jilin University's complete discipline categories. At present, the central training venue covers an area of 172400 square meters and currently has 1266 sets of various teaching equipment and instruments, with a total value of 50.53 million yuan. The center currently has 68 faculty members, including 27 professional and technical personnel, accounting for 39.71%; 36 workers, accounting for 52.94%. The ratio of professional technicians to workers is about 3:4. The center undertakes the engineering training and teaching tasks for 3700 undergraduate students annually, covering 11 colleges including the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Information Science, the Faculty of Geography, and the Faculty of Agriculture, with an annual teaching workload of approximately 500000 person hours. The center also undertakes various school level and provincial-level events such as the Mechanical Innovation Competition and Engineering Training Competition every year.

In the future, the Engineering Training Center will meet the latest developments in industry and technology, as well as the industry's latest requirements for talent cultivation. It will focus on the "Made in China 2025" manufacturing power strategy and the development trend of discipline construction and innovative practice talent cultivation. Based on the talent cultivation guiding ideology of Jilin University, which is "lofty aspirations, daring to take responsibility, strong foundation, strong ability, innovative and adaptable", it will build a new engineering training practice system of "one main and four wings" to serve the "four new constructions", and make great strides towards achieving the talent cultivation goal of "solid foundation, emphasis on practice, and strict requirements".
